Job summary

SafeLease Insurance Services, LLC is seeking a Controller to lead all accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls across the MGA and surplus lines carrier. The role combines U.S.

GAAP and SAP statutory reporting, with ownership of premium trust, intercompany activity, and quarterly accounting packages. The ideal candidate will bring a Big Four audit background and a CPA, with 7+ years in insurance finance, and a track record of scaling finance functions in a high-growth environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in insurance carrier with MGA and E&S or admitted carrier.
• SAP NAIC reporting experience incl NAIC Annual Statement.
• Big Four background in audit/assurance.
• CPA and degree in Accounting/Finance.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance.
• Expertise in GAAP vs SAP and consolidations.
• Experience across multiple legal entities and lines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations across MGA and carrier, GL, close processes.
• Deliver GAAP and SAP financial statements and NAIC reporting.
• Manage statutory filings, RBC, IRIS, and state filings.
• Oversee MGA/carrier accounting and intercompany eliminations.
• Design and maintain internal controls and policies.
• Lead audits and liaise with external auditors and advisors.
• Build and mentor a high-performing accounting team.
• Provide financial insights and strategic recommendations.
• Handle premium/claims accounting, DAC, and loss reserves.
• Oversee treasury, investments, and capital reporting.
