Job summary

Southwestern Community College in Sylva, NC seeks an Institutional Research Analyst to assist the Director of Institutional Research and Planning by collecting, processing, and evaluating information about the College’s programs and services.

The role involves planning support, data reporting for IPEDS and accreditation, and development of an annual Institutional Effectiveness Plan. Strong analytical, data-management, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of one year of related work experience.
Three years of experience in a strategic planning capacity with knowledge of basic data analysis methods preferred.
Understanding of and experience working with Relational Databases; Datatel Colleague preferred.
Basic knowledge of statistical analysis software.
Proficiency with MS Office (Excel and Word) and Google Workspace.
Ability to interpret data requests and write programs to fulfill campus needs.

Responsibilities

Assist in planning activities; develop institutional goals and priorities.
Help document progress toward annual priorities and support planning across departments.
Collect and provide data for College Planning Activities, IPEDS, and accrediting processes.
Create standard reports such as the College Fact Book.
Maintain the Institutional Research and Planning Office web page.
Respond to ad-hoc data requests and reporting needs.
Coordinate collection, compilation, organization and reporting of institutional data.
Assist with survey instrument development and administration.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Institutional Research and Planning.
