Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s LIRR is seeking a Senior Manager of Strategic Priorities in Queens, NY, to identify, execute, and coordinate strategies that improve efficiency and service quality.

The role focuses on data-driven improvement across engineering, maintenance, rolling stock, security, and operations, creating work plans, tracking metrics, and presenting updates to senior management and HQ.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Operational Analytics, Transportation, Information Technology, or a related area with 5-7 years of work experience.
• 5 years of Management consulting or a related field.
• Ability to relate to people across the organization spectrum to establish trust and rapport.
• Ability to work with large data sets, evaluate data quality, use data to answer analytic questions, and develop data-driven performance measures.
• Proven project management skills, including ability to define a work plan, establish goals, and deliver high-quality work products on time.
• Ability to evaluate complex processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
• Analytical, research and problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside of the box and implement creative solutions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and experience with business analytics/intelligence tools are required.
• Ability to be flexible, multi-task and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Compile and analyze metrics with operating divisions; prepare information for senior staff and HQ.
• Lead high-profile initiatives to improve efficiency, service quality, and performance.
• Create project work plans and secure buy-in for strategic initiatives.
• Measure progress against goals using KPIs and benchmarks.
• Represent LIRR at inter-agency meetings and board briefings.
• Develop relationships with peer agencies and advocacy groups.
• Ensure safe work practices and provide coaching and development.
• Review invoices and address contractor performance issues.
