Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to support OpenAI’s Consumer Device team in San Francisco. You will partner with senior leaders to design organizations, strengthen leadership capabilities, and drive people programs in a fast‑moving, hardware/engineering environment.

You will coach managers, balance competing priorities, and influence people practices that enable teams to perform at their best.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience as an HR Business Partner supporting hardware, engineering, or similarly technical organizations in fast‑moving environments.
• Experience with multidisciplinary teams across technical, creative, and operational disciplines.
• Ability to coach managers through complex situations and strengthen people practices.
• Strong judgment, integrity, and discretion in handling sensitive information.
• Proven capability to design organizational structures, talent planning, and people programs.
• Collaborates effectively with HRBPs, centers of excellence, and cross‑functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Shape high‑performing, resilient teams by partnering with leaders on organizational design and talent planning.
• Advise with context and judgment on people, leadership, and organizational matters.
• Collaborate across OpenAI to create a cohesive employee experience rooted in humanity and impact.
• Evolve people programs to improve performance, engagement, and development.
• Guide and develop managers with candid, actionable feedback and coaching.
• Anticipate challenges, diagnose root causes, and develop durable solutions as priorities evolve.
• Lead change initiatives with empathy, clarity, and rigor.
