Job summary

University of California, Berkeley is seeking a Human Resources Partner within BEARS to manage client relationships and deliver HR services across campus.

The role covers recruitment, employee relations, compensation, and policy interpretation, with guidance from HR/APS teams to drive process improvements. A bachelor’s degree and strong HR background are required. This exempt, full-time position offers substantial UC benefits and remote work up to 5 days per week.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of human resources concepts, policies, and procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of disability case management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for diverse client groups.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing work and meet timelines.
  • Analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels managers and supervisors on HR policies, performance management, recruiting, onboarding, compensation, disability, training, and more.
  • Manages recruitment cycle for a wide range of staff and academic positions.
  • Advises employees on sensitive work-related issues and handles difficult situations.
  • Conducts termination interviews and provides feedback to management.
  • Implements job descriptions, leave management, and policy interpretations.
  • Collaborates with client groups on reorganizations and staffing objectives.
  • Represents BEARS in department meetings and contributes to service delivery improvements.
  • Prioritizes work, analyzes HR trends, and proposes improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
