Job summary

Ultimate Staffing is seeking an experienced HR Manager for a nonprofit in California. The role supervises the HR team and acts as a strategic partner to leadership, focusing on employee relations, investigations, compliance, and employment law.

You will lead investigations, ensure regulatory compliance, support talent processes, and use HR data to guide decisions. Monday–Friday, 1st shift, in Santa Clara County. Competitive salary and benefits to be discussed.

Qualifications

• Experience in employee relations, investigations, compliance and employment law.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop the Human Resources function and team.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to organizational leaders on employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, and HR best practices.
• Lead workplace investigations from intake through resolution, including employee complaints, disciplinary matters, and complex personnel issues.
• Partner with leadership and legal counsel to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Handle unemployment claims, appeals, hearings, and other employment-related matters.
• Provide guidance on sensitive employee relations situations with a strong understanding of California employment law.
• Ensure compliance with labor regulations, reporting requirements, and organizational policies.
• Support talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, employee engagement, and workforce planning initiatives.
• Review and interpret employment laws and regulations to provide accurate, compliant guidance to leadership and staff.
• Utilize HR metrics and data to identify trends and make strategic recommendations.
