Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese is seeking an HR Governance Partner to act as the strategic guardian of organizational integrity, overseeing policies, compliance, and risk management across leave administration, reporting, and internal investigations.

The role partners with Legal and IT, translating complex regulations into clear guidelines, managing audits, and driving data integrity to proactively mitigate risk across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business Admin, or related field; commensurate experience.
• 6 years progressive HR experience with 3–5 years in Employee Relations, HR Operations, or Risk Mitigation.
• Ability to conduct complex internal investigations and provide actionable summaries for legal/executive review.
• Strong ability to partner with cross-functional teams (Legal, IT, Operations).

Responsibilities

• Monitor changes in federal, state, and local labor laws to ensure compliance.
• Draft, update and maintain Employee Handbook and internal HR policies.
• Translate complex regulations into clear, actionable guidelines for managers and employees.
• Oversee pre-employment screening and vendor management for drug screening.
• Prepare and file government reports (EEO-1, NPS, etc.).
• Conduct internal HR audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure policy compliance.
• Serve as main contact for external audit firms and manage on-site logistics.
• Establish compliance benchmarks based on audit requirements (SMETA).
• Conduct workshops and coaching for management and new teams.
• Manage CAPR, investigate audit findings, and track verification timelines.
• Collaborate with site HR and operations to design timely non-conformance solutions.
• Upload evidence and maintain Sedex profile.
• Create and oversee compliance processes and ADA-related interactions.
• Serve as liaison for FMLA administration and legal notices.
• Provide mentorship for internal investigations and ensure proper documentation.
