Job summary

The City of Apache Junction is seeking a seasoned Human Resources Director to lead the city’s HR department, overseeing recruitment, retention, employee relations, classification, compensation, benefits, and wellness programs. You will ensure responsive, compliant HR services aligned with city priorities and strategic goals.

Responsibilities include developing citywide HR policies, managing budgets, advising the Deputy City Manager on trends, and guiding the HR team through strategic initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in HR, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field with seven years of relevant experience, including three years supervisory.
• Strong knowledge of city codes, ordinances, rules and regulations related to HR and local/state/federal laws.
• Experience in budgeting, strategic planning, and managing administrative HR programs.

Responsibilities

• Recommend, develop, and communicate citywide HR policies, regulations and practices.
• Administer the city's personnel rules.
• Plan and implement short-term and long-term HR goals.
• Direct recruitment, retention, employee relations, job classification and compensation administration, benefits, training and development, wellness and engagement.
• Administer employee benefits including options, pricing, and RFPs for medical, dental and vision.
• Conduct and/or facilitate employee investigations.
• Advise Deputy City Manager on HR trends and issues.
• Oversee position classification and compensation administration and studies.
• Prepare and monitor department budget and expenditures.
