The role requires deep expertise in California employment law, compensation, benefits, and organizational risk, with a track record of influencing senior leadership and building a culture of trust and learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR management or related field required.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible HR work experience.
• 3-5 years managing HR in a nonprofit or California context.
• SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification or similar credentials.

Responsibilities

• Lead HR team direction for recruitment, onboarding, and staff development.
• Partner with executives to align HR with strategic plan and goals.
• Oversee compensation, benefits, payroll, and compliance across the org.
• Ensure equitable HR practices and accessibility for staff with limited English proficiency.
• Develop and execute systems for learning, governance, and organizational risk management.
• Coach managers and foster a culture of trust, learning, and accountability.
