Job summary

Coherent is seeking a Director of Corporate Development to lead growth through mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic partnerships. You will partner with executive leadership to evaluate market opportunities, develop strategic recommendations, and drive transactions from evaluation through integration planning.

This role requires 10+ years of relevant experience and exceptional financial modeling and presentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, business, engineering, economics, or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, strategy consulting, or related field.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex M&A transactions, strategic investments, or partnership initiatives.
• Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical capabilities.
• Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with executive leadership to evaluate and refine Coherent's growth strategy and strategic priorities.
• Identify, assess, and prioritize acquisition, divestiture, partnership, licensing, and joint venture opportunities across Coherent's markets and technology platforms.
• Lead all phases of the M&A process, including sourcing, strategic assessment, valuation, due diligence, negotiation, and execution.
• Develop investment theses and business cases for potential transactions, incorporating market analysis and financial returns.
• Build and maintain relationships with investment banks, PE/VC firms, and other external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with business unit leaders to identify growth opportunities and portfolio optimization initiatives.
• Support strategic planning activities, including market analysis and long-range growth initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and new business opportunities for better competitive position.
• Prepare presentations and recommendations for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Partner with Finance, Legal, HR, and Integration teams to ensure successful transaction execution.
• Support post-acquisition integration planning and execution.
