Job summary

Nueces County is seeking a Budget Analyst to manage and monitor departmental budgets, develop projections, and prepare budget proposals for Commissioners Court. You will analyze expenditures, compile reports, and assist in preparing the annual county budget with extensive judgment and research.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business and two years of governmental budgeting experience; CPA is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration, plus two years of governmental accounting and/or budgeting experience.
• Graduate level education may be substituted year for year for the accounting/budgeting experience.
• CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• Valid class C Texas driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and monitors progress of departmental budgets across funds.
• Ensures budget enforcement in compliance with statutes and policies.
• Assists with annual county budget preparation and complex computations.
• Compiles and analyzes budget reports and conducts special research.
• Creates expenditure and revenue projections to inform management.
• Produces budget change orders for Commissioners Court submission.
