Job summary

CivicPlus is seeking a General Counsel to serve as a strategic advisor and head the company’s legal department. The role covers compliance, GDPR and data privacy, M&A, IP protection, and risk management, with responsibility for drafting complex contracts and coordinating outside counsel.

Ideal candidates hold a JD, are admitted to the bar in good standing, and have at least 5 years of transactional legal experience, preferably in-house within a technology company.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission in good standing in one state.
• Minimum 5 years of transactional legal experience.
• Preference for in-house experience in tech companies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee compliance, GDPR and data privacy, and risk management.
• Lead M&A activities and protect intellectual property.
• Draft complex strategic contracts and manage outside counsel.
• Support CivicPlus growth in GovTech and SaaS sectors.
