Job summary

CS Recruiting is seeking a hands-on Freight Director to oversee national freight operations in the U.S. and Mexico.

You will manage a multi-million freight spend, drive cost reductions, and strengthen carrier performance while leading dispatch, invoicing, and shipment execution. Ideal candidates have deep transport operations experience, strong negotiation skills, and a track record of improving routing efficiency.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in transportation or logistics management.
• Experience managing day-to-day freight operations and large freight spend.
• Strong carrier negotiation and relationship management background.
• Experience with routing, load planning, and transportation cost management.
• Experience leading logistics/dispatch teams.
• Cross-border U.S./Mexico experience preferred.
• Truckload transportation experience required.
• Manufacturing/logistics/3PL environment experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with TMS and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee freight operations across the U.S. and Mexico.
• Manage $12M–$15M in annual freight spend with focus on cost reduction.
• Negotiate rates and terms with carriers and brokers.
• Manage carrier relationships and performance for pricing, service and capacity.
• Analyze freight data and routes to identify savings and improvements.
• Coordinate logistics activities between U.S. and Mexico operations.
• Develop and improve SOPs, reporting, and key metrics.
• Collaborate with production, sales, customer service, finance and leadership.
