Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Lansing, MI, seeks a Business Finance & Accounting Leader to partner with the Plant General Manager, drive profitability, and ensure sound financial control of the Lansing Packaging and Lansing Garden facilities.

The role focuses on budgeting, forecasting, KPI analysis, CAPEX planning, internal controls, and actionable financial insights to improve margins and operating performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
• Finance career progression in corporate/operations finance with 10+ years of experience.
• Experience in the paper and packaging industry or manufacturing preferred.
• Experience managing diverse teams, hiring, development and performance management.
• Strong analytical ability and willingness to dive into the details.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to partner with operational leaders.

Responsibilities

• Budget & Financial preparation and reporting.
• Prepares annual budget and quarterly forecasts with the plant GM for forecast accuracy.
• Utilizes KPIs to project growth opportunities and improve costs.
• Collaborates with Commercial leads to validate top-line revenue expectations.
• Creates simplified budget and reporting processes and reports key items clearly.
• Oversees internal controls and ensures policy compliance.
• Leads profitability analysis and action plans to improve margins.
• Manages working capital and cash flow monitoring and ad hoc analyses.
