Job summary

The Women’s Home seeks a Financial Controller in Houston, TX to lead accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with nonprofit GAAP. You will manage budgeting, forecasting support, and a growing Accounting Team under the Chief Operations Officer.

You will oversee grant billing and restricted funds, coordinate financial systems, and prepare reports for management and external stakeholders, driving financial strategy and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA/CMA preferred).
• Minimum five years of accounting/finance experience, with at least two years in leadership.
• Experience supervising accounting staff in nonprofit settings.
• Proficiency in Blackbaud Financial Edge, ADP, Ramp and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting functions: general ledger, payables, receivables, payroll, grant billing, contribution accounting, and monthly reporting.
• Lead monthly/quarterly/annual close processes with journal entries, reconciliations, and management reports.
• Maintain internal controls and accounting policies; ensure GAAP and nonprofit standards compliance.
