Job summary

PeopleFund, a values-driven nonprofit financial services organization in Austin, seeks a Financial Controller to enhance financial integrity and governance. You will oversee accounting, investor reporting, audits, and KPI tracking while ensuring compliance with FASB and regulatory requirements.

The role reports to the CFO and leads accounting, audit, and financial analysis across the organization. CPA is required, MBA preferred, with 10+ years in accounting/finance and 2+ years in a similar role.

Qualifications

• CPA required
• MBA preferred
• 10+ years of experience in accounting and finance roles
• 2+ years in a similar role
• Non-profits experience advantageous
• Experience with government contracts/grants advantageous
• Experience in Financial Services advantageous
• Advanced computer skills including MS Office
• Exceptional communication skills
• Results-oriented, strategic thinker and planner

Responsibilities

• Maintain accuracy and completeness of general accounts and internal controls.
• Oversee financial accounting system and close processes.
• Lead the audit process, including IRS 990 and financial statements.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual reporting cycles.
• Handle cash management and risk management activities.
• Own management and investor reporting and financial analysis.
• Ensure investor relations reporting accuracy and support investment portfolio management.
• Ensure reporting aligns with FASB standards and coordinate with auditors.
• Support CFO with monthly and annual financial plans and budgets.
• Support facilities management and HR functions as needed.
• Communicate potential risks clearly and timely.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
