Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
• Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
• Ability to independently gather required information to organize and perform financial analysis assignments.
• Proven ability to present information verbally and in writing.
• Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
• Proven interpersonal skills with peers and strong service orientation; attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and multi-task in a high-volume environment.
• Thorough knowledge of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.

Responsibilities

• Applies professional concepts to perform moderate to complex financial or resource analysis.
• Develops, prepares, and designs reports using campus systems and tools (BFS, Bearbuy, UC Path, CalAnswers, CalPlanning).
• Provides analytical support for complex budget, financial, or resource analysis projects.
• Generates and distributes budget to actual financial reports; manages salary and non-salary budgets; supports monthly closings.
• Collaborates with cost centers and administrative staff on budgets and expenses.
• Manages accounting functions in the Dean's Office; ensures compliance and monthly reconciliation.
• Ensures internal controls to protect University resources.
• Reviews general ledger, prepares financial journals, and responds to audit requests.
