Job summary

Philanthropy New York seeks a Vice President of Finance to provide strategic leadership and oversee the organization’s financial and operating assets. The role requires translating complex data for nonfinance partners, designing scalable planning tools, and upholding fiscal integrity with a commitment to racial equity.

The position is full-time and hybrid, with 2–3 days in the office (Tue–Thu) and occasional early/late hours to support programs and meetings.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; MBA or CPA preferred.
Minimum of 14 years of related professional experience, including at least four years in philanthropy or nonprofits.
Supervisory experience required.
Strong knowledge of GAAP as applied to nonprofit accounting.
Experience managing high volumes of receivables and financial reporting for restricted grants.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic and day-to-day operational leadership of the organization’s budget, accounting, audit, and tracking of assets.
Oversee annual audit process and preparation for 990 tax returns.
Develop financial reports for board and committees; support Audit and Finance Committees.
Oversee budgets for fiscally sponsored projects and ensure alignment with agreements.
Lead annual budgeting process and maintain fiscal policies and internal controls.
