Común in New York is seeking a Strategic Finance Lead to own financial planning, treasury, and the commercial side of vendor and banking relationships, reporting directly to the founders.

This high-autonomy role acts as the finance brain of the company, partnering with the controller, product, and growth to drive toward profitability and 1x burn with an AI-first finance approach.

You will operate with minimal headcount, use Claude daily, and influence strategic fundraising as the company scales.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years in finance, with startup FP&A or strategic finance background.
• Strong driver-based financial modeling skills.
• Experience negotiating vendor, partner, or banking agreements.
• Ability to work autonomously and own end-to-end workstreams.
• Spanish language skills a plus.
• Familiarity with fintech/card program economics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own financial planning and analysis, 18-month budget, monthly forecasts.
• Manage treasury, cash across bank accounts and liquidity planning.
• Lead vendor and partner negotiations from cost modeling to terms.
• Define pricing strategy and unit economics for card/payments.
