Job summary

Addison Group is seeking an experienced Financial Controller in California to oversee accounting operations, lead a small team, and deliver timely financial reporting and analysis. The role partners with leadership, external CPAs, lenders, and tax advisors to support decisions and planning.

The position requires strong accounting knowledge, experience with ERP systems, and a focus on accuracy, controls, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or other relevant professional certification preferred.
• Proven experience in Financial Controller or similar leadership role.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and controls.
• Experience overseeing AP, AR, GL, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; translate data into business recommendations.
• Experience managing accounting professionals.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial management software.
• Advanced Excel skills; BI/reporting tools helpful.
• Knowledge of AI-enabled financial tools is preferred; experience using AI for planning/reporting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including AP, AR, GL, and payroll.
• Lead and develop the accounting team to ensure timely, accurate processes.
• Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and projections.
• Analyze performance and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
• Monitor cash flow, expenses, profitability, and overall financials.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors during audits and filings.
• Provide financial reporting and analysis to senior management, CPAs, lenders.
• Support business planning through financial modeling and analysis.
• Oversee payroll and HR-related financial tasks.
• Manage insurance policies and relationships with brokers.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, reporting, and efficiency.
• Leverage ERP and BI systems to enhance reporting and decision-making.
• Evaluate AI-enabled tools to improve planning and reporting.
