Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of related business or administrative experience demonstrating competence in applying general accounting principles, personnel practices, and coordination of major administrative functions.
• Experience leading complex budgeting and financial operations within large organizations, preferably in higher education, healthcare, or technology.
• Proven ability to develop financial strategies and partner with senior leadership.
• Experience supporting grants, restricted funds, capital projects, and strategic initiatives.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, audit practices, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate preparation, management, forecasting, and monitoring of operating, capital, reserve, and restricted-fund budgets.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to the VP/CIO and senior leadership on major financial decisions and investments.
• Direct all financial accounting activities, including reporting, analysis, projections, and compliance.
• Oversee procurement, AP/AR, payroll-related activities, and asset management per Duke policies.
• Partner with departments to ensure adherence to budgets, investigate variances, and develop long-range plans.
• Lead financial analysis for programs, initiatives, and vendor relationships.
• Develop and deliver financial reports, metrics, forecasts, and cost-management information.
• Guide pricing strategies, recovery models, demand planning, and financial sustainability initiatives.
• Ensure GAAP, PCI, policies, and internal controls compliance; strengthen financial processes.
• Oversee grant administration, including proposal support, tracking, reporting, overhead recovery, and closeout.
