In this hybrid, Durham-based role, you will oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, accounting operations, and fiscal compliance; you will partner with senior leaders to inform major decisions and develop long-range financial plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of related business or administrative experience demonstrating competence in applying general accounting principles, personnel practices, and coordination of major administrative functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, accounting operations, and fiscal compliance for OIT.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to Vice President/CIO and senior leadership on major financial decisions and investments.
• Direct all financial accounting activities including reporting, analysis, projections, and compliance.
• Oversee procurement, accounts payable/receivable, payroll-related activities, and asset management per Duke policies.
• Partner with departments to ensure adherence to budgets and develop long-range financial plans.
• Lead financial analysis for major programs, capital projects, and vendor relationships.
• Develop and deliver financial reports, performance metrics, forecasts, and cost-management information for informed decisions.
• Provide leadership for pricing strategies, recovery models, and capacity planning.
• Ensure GAAP, PCI, and internal controls compliance while strengthening financial processes.
• Oversee grant-related financial administration including proposal support and grant closeout.
• Lead and develop the Budget and Finance team through hiring, coaching, and performance management.
