Job summary

Facing Forward to End Homelessness, a Chicago-based nonprofit, seeks a Director of Finance to lead all accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. You will partner with the Executive Director, Board, and program teams to strengthen financial decision-making and safeguard assets.

This full-time, hybrid role requires nonprofit experience, GAAP expertise, and strong leadership to build a high-performing finance team and ensure long-term sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred; CPA or related certification preferred.
• At least seven years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
• At least three years of leadership and supervisory experience.
• Nonprofit accounting experience preferred; government grants experience.
• Strong communication, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic financial planning including budgets and forecasts.
• Oversee GAAP financial reporting and nonprofit compliance.
• Manage accounting operations, internal controls, and month-end close.
• Oversee government grants, contracts, and compliance activities.
• Lead the finance team and collaborate with executives and department heads.
• Ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and accessible.
