Job summary

Mid Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to provide strategic financial leadership for Central Ohio’s regional council. The CFO oversees budgeting, grants, audits, and financial reporting, guiding executive decisions and ensuring compliance with policies and laws.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field.
• Master’s degree, CPA, CGFM, CPFO, or comparable public finance credential preferred.
• Eight or more years of progressively responsible experience in governmental, nonprofit, or public-sector accounting and financial management.
• Experience with public-sector procurement, contract review, and work with boards, commissions, or elected/appointed officials is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads development, administration, monitoring, and forecasting of agency-wide budgets and long-term financial planning.
• Oversees financial management and compliance of federal, state, local, and private grants.
• Maintains internal controls for accounting, grants, procurement, payroll coordination, cash management, and reporting.
• Oversees preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules; directs responses to audit findings.
• Coordinates annual financial audit and liaison to external auditors.
