Job summary

The Global Orphan Project Inc in Kansas City, MO seeks a Director of Accounting & Finance to lead all accounting and fiscal management, ensuring GAAP compliance, strong internal controls, and accurate reporting. You will oversee close cycles, payroll, audits, tax filings, and budgeting in partnership with the CFO while guiding the finance team.

You will implement financial systems, manage third‑party partners, and support cross‑department initiatives to strengthen operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• CPA, CFA, or CFP preferred.
• Seven to ten years in accounting or finance; nonprofit experience preferred.
• Proven leadership of finance professionals.
• Strong communication with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial reporting; ensure GAAP compliance.
• Manage close cycles, payroll, audits, and tax filings.
• Lead budgeting and financial planning with CFO collaboration.
• Manage cash flow and forecasting; implement financial tools.
• Oversee contracts, third-party partners and policy updates.
• Develop and mentor accounting/finance staff; cross-team collaboration.
