Job summary

Better Business Bureau Heart of Texas seeks a Director of Finance to provide strategic and operational leadership for all financial activities, including accounting operations, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and internal controls. The role partners with the CEO and Board to deliver timely insights, strengthen processes, manage risk, and support decision-making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience.
• Minimum of two years of supervisory or people‑management experience.
• Demonstrated experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily Finance and Accounting operations, including general ledger, A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations, cash management, and financial reporting.
• Oversee accurate, timely financial statements and management reports.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting; monitor performance, analyze variances, identify trends and risks.
• Monitor cash flow, revenue, expenses, and financial performance; identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Develop and improve financial policies, procedures, systems, and internal controls.
• Oversee audits, tax filings, regulatory reporting, and other financial compliance activities.
• Lead and develop Finance and Accounting staff; set priorities, clarify expectations, and monitor performance.
• Partner with executive leadership on financial planning, business decisions, and special projects.
• Present financial results, forecasts, risks, and updates at Board and Executive Committee meetings.
• Maintain relationships with banking partners, advisors, funders, vendors, and other key stakeholders.
• Establish departmental goals and priorities aligned with organizational strategy.
