Job summary

Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, MD seeks a Director of Finance to lead the school’s financial operations, budgeting, and system modernization. Reporting to the CFO/COO, you will manage a $50M operating budget and $160M in assets, guiding a team of three finance professionals to ensure financial integrity and strategic decision‑making across the campus.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership in a complex operating environment.
• Strong technical accounting background, including oversight of financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, audits, internal controls, and fund accounting.
• Experience leading financial systems implementations and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily financial operations, including general accounting, student billing, accounts payable, and internal controls.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to support school leadership and governance.
• Lead the implementation and modernization of financial systems and data integration across platforms.
• Coordinate annual audit preparation and Form 990 reporting with external partners.
• Manage a small finance team and develop staff through mentorship and professional development.
