Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is seeking a Director of Finance & Data Analytics for a mission-driven nonprofit in New York City. You will partner with the CFO to lead FP&A, financial reporting, data analytics, and revenue management, combining strategic planning with oversight of accounting processes.

You will build financial models, manage budgets, dashboards (Tableau), and automate workflows using AI and emerging tools, while mentoring the finance team and presenting insights to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• 6–8+ years of FP&A, accounting, financial reporting, or financial analysis experience.
• MBA/MPA/CPA preferred.
• Strong FP&A, budgeting, forecasting expertise.
• Experience with government, nonprofit, or grant-funded contracts preferred.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office; Tableau and ERP systems helpful.
• Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
• Analytical, communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead FP&A including budgeting, forecasting, modeling, and multi-year planning.
• Develop financial models; analyze programs, contracts, and organizational performance.
• Partner with department leaders on budgets, cost management, and financial planning.
• Oversee reporting, dashboards, and data analytics with Tableau or similar tools.
• Manage revenue cycle: billing, invoicing, collections, cash application.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and accounting activities.
• Support audits, compliance, internal controls, and contract reporting.
• Identify opportunities to automate finance processes with AI and emerging tools.
• Evaluate financial systems, reporting tools, and process improvements.
• Lead and mentor finance team members, collaborating cross-functionally.
• Present financial insights to senior leadership.
