Job summary

Jarvis Law Office, PC is seeking a Controller in Dublin, OH to oversee all finance operations. This full-time, exempt role blends hands-on accounting with project leadership across budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory reporting.

The position requires 5+ years in accounting, preferably in professional services, and CPA is preferred. You will supervise a bookkeeper, manage trust accounts, coordinate audits, and provide insightful financial analysis to owners and executives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
• Strong knowledge of trust accounting rules and legal billing systems.
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
• Prior experience with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Direct the activities of the third-party bookkeeper and other vendors.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting as needed.
• Monitor cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and provide analysis to leadership.
• Review and approve accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expenses.
• Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making and planning.
• Oversee company-wide expense management and adherence to budgets.
• Assist with planning and implementing changes in the accounting system.
• Support owner with financial controls and risk management.
• Serve as backup for semi-monthly payroll processing.
