Job summary

oriongroup is seeking a Controller to lead the Finance Department in New Jersey. You will ensure accurate financial records, drive monthly close, and oversee billing, cash flow, and compliance with US GAAP. This hands-on leadership role partners with the Director of Finance and supervises accounting staff.

The position requires a strong background in construction accounting, WIP, and job costing, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in construction accounting or similar role.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• Strong leadership and analytical abilities; proficient with MS Excel and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily Finance Department operations, set priorities and drive accountability.
• Escalate finance issues and ensure timely resolution.
• Oversee invoicing, payments, reconciliations, collections and cash flow.
• Own a 5-business day monthly close including GL and intercompany reconciliations.
• Prepare, review and analyze P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and WIP.
• Ensure GAAP compliance, including revenue recognition for long projects.
• Own WIP and job costing, review profitability and variances.
• Monitor receivables, cash activity, and assist with forecast and working capital.
• Manage multi-branch financials, renewals, and rate changes; support ad hoc requests.
