Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Controller - Construction in Vineland, NJ on-site for a permanent role. You will oversee the Finance Department, ensure GAAP compliance and drive the monthly close and reporting processes.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in construction accounting, a bachelor's in accounting or finance, strong Excel skills, experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics BC), and proven leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in construction accounting or similar role.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Construction/Mechanical/Service industry experience preferred; WIP, revenue recognition, job costing, change orders, and billing experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Finance Department operations, set priorities and accountability.
• Escalate finance operational issues and ensure timely resolution.
• Oversee invoicing, payments, reconciliations, collections and accounting tasks.
• Own 5-business day monthly close with GL and intercompany reconciliations; assist with monthly reporting.
• Prepare, review and analyze financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
• Ensure GAAP compliance and revenue recognition for projects.
• Own open WIP, ensure accurate job costing and profitability review.
• Review branch results, investigate variances and key drivers.
• Escalate billing issues requiring Operations involvement; resolve promptly.
• Manage AR and cash collection, daily receipts and aging.
• Monitor cash activity and assist with cash forecasting and working capital.
• Maintain bid contracts for renewals, expirations, rate changes.
• Complete multi-jurisdictional sales tax reconciliations and filings.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting; take on special projects.
