Job summary

The Detroit Red Wings is seeking a seasoned Controller to oversee accounting and finance functions, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and internal controls. The Controller will lead the monthly close, manage accounts payable/receivable and payroll interfaces, and collaborate with department leaders to align financial plans with strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting with extensive experience.
• Broad knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• 10 years of financial and accounting experience in a dynamic environment.
• Strong leadership, project management, and process improvement skills.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and with senior leadership.
• Advanced Microsoft Office and ERP system skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly forecasting, with detailed review and leadership alignment.
• Support budgeting processes and GAAP-compliant reporting.
• Ensure timely monthly close and general ledger reconciliations.
• Oversee AP/AR and treasury activities and payroll interfacing.
• Lead annual audits and coordinate league reporting requirements.
• Drive process improvements to shorten close cycles and enhance controls.
• Provide financial analysis for strategic planning and capital budgeting.
