Qualifications

• Advanced comprehension and preparation of financial and operational analysis.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of cost accounting, including labor, volume, and rate analyses.
• Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages for both general ledger and budgeting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to deal with confidential information discreetly and professionally.
• Must have excellent creative problem-solving skills.
• Must be a self-starter and able to perform duties independently with minimal direction.
• High-level computer and Microsoft Office skills.
• Able to exercise a high degree of judgment and diplomacy and have an impeccable commitment to service and confidentiality.
• Excellent organizational skills: This role demands a high level of organization, flexibility, resourcefulness, efficiency, and a professional demeanor in the challenges represented by supporting the accounting office and Ministry staff.
• Good research skills and the ability to interpret data from varied sources.
• Mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a resource to the executive management team of a multi-divisional organization.
• Strong mathematical skills, analytical skills, and experience incorporating a strategic vision into an operational model.
• An effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral and written skills and a willingness to share information.
• Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
• Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and records assets, liabilities, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing financial information.
• Assist with certain electronic payments and banking transactions.
• Review and approve, edit or reject all Charis purchase order requests in Sage Intacct.
• Assist with the annual budgeting and planning process, comparing actual results to budget with a view to identifying, explaining, and correcting variances as appropriate.
• Reviews, challenges, and understands trial balance reports, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
• Review accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Supervises accountants in preparing financial records and ensuring that student financial transactions are properly recorded.
• Supervise the Charis Accounting staff with the monthly close and reporting process.
• Supervise the Charis Accounting staff with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger transactions, reconciling entries, and resolving discrepancies.
• Review and analyze College and Departmental budgets, assisting College staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Work closely with the CFO and Controller teams to provide analysis and strategic reporting.
• Make recommendations to ensure the efficient use of resources.
• Assist with technical support for accounting software and related systems.
• All other duties as assigned.
