Job summary

Talanto in San Jose, CA seeks a Principal Field Application Engineer for Optical Connectivity. You will drive design wins and co-development with hyperscaler data centers, shaping the roadmap for 800G/1.6T/3.2T technologies.

You'll act as a strategic technical advisor, leading cross-functional teams and delivering expert guidance on signal integrity, transceiver design, and applications engineering to secure multi-million-dollar revenue opportunities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master/PhD preferred.
8+ years of proven FAE experience with strategic customer engagement.
Signal integrity expertise for 800G, 1.6T, 3.2T applications.
Knowledge of optical transceiver architecture, design, validation, and manufacturing.
Familiarity with LPO, LRO, and CPO architectures.
Experience in high-speed PCB design including layout, impedance control, and validation.
Proficiency with network analyzers, BER testers, oscilloscopes.
Understanding of IEEE 802.3 and OIF standards.
Understanding hyperscaler data center architectures and infrastructure evolution.
Demonstrated success leading customer co-development projects with revenue impact.

Responsibilities

Drive design wins for high-speed drivers, TIAs, copper redrivers with data center customers.
Accelerate design-in cycles, removing technical barriers to secure revenue opportunities.
Lead co-development initiatives for 1.6T and 3.2T+ with customer teams.
Create joint innovation programs with Tier 1 hyperscalers.
Align product roadmap with customer evolution plans.
Lead evaluations and provide pre-sales and post-sales support.
Troubleshoot and debug complex technical issues.
Guide customers on hardware design, PCB layout, and system validation.
Support qualification processes with manufacturers, network operators, and cloud providers.
Create application notes and design guides establishing thought leadership.
Influence PM and R&D priorities based on customer insights.
Serve as strategic advisor to VPs in sales and product lines.
