Job summary

Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) seeks an Employee Relations Specialist to foster a positive, compliant, high-performing workplace. In this role, you will partner with agency leadership to resolve complex employee and labor relations matters and conduct workplace investigations.

You will develop training programs, support employee engagement, and ensure compliance with AFSCME contracts.

Qualifications

• Requires four years of college in public administration, labor relations, or HR.
• Requires two years of professional HR experience.
• Overtime may be required; travel with overnights is possible.
• Background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Employee Relations Specialist for DCEO, handling employee and labor relations.
• Assist in managing the Agency’s Labor Relations Function.
• Support employee engagement initiatives and develop training content.
• Review internal policies for consistency with AFSCME contract.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
