Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of economic development principles including business attraction, retention, and expansion.
• Real estate development finance and financial analysis.
• Public administration, budgeting principles, public policy analysis, and economics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and direct the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for the Economic Development Department in alignment with the City’s vision, goals and objectives.
• Plan, organize, and manage the work of personnel performing the activities and operations of the assigned function.
• Review and oversee the work of project management staff and contractors to ensure adherence to contractual obligations and project scope requirements.
• Review and update project plans; coordinate and assist other agencies in securing grants and/or funding.
• Plan, organize, and direct the project and program activities of the Economic Development Department and brief the City Manager's Office and City Council on project and program status.
• Direct and participate in the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of department budget.
• Engage with stakeholders including business leaders, developers, investors, chambers of commerce, and government partners to advance economic development priorities.
• Serve as liaison and make public presentations to various agencies, private firms, investors, and the public on matters relating to economy and economic development.
• Support housing and homelessness outcomes in collaboration with housing authorities and community providers.

Education

Bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning, finance, real estate financing and development, public administration, business administration, political science, economics
