Job summary

The City of Denton is seeking an Economic Development Manager to attract, expand, and retain businesses across Denton. You will navigate site selection, incentives, real estate options, workforce connections, and strategic partnerships to support growth.

This role focuses on commercial/industrial development, targeting technology, life sciences, aviation, advanced manufacturing, mobility, and creative sectors, collaborating with local and regional partners and employing data analytics to guide

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, public administration, or related field.
• Five years of experience in economic development or related field.
• Knowledge of municipal laws, incentives, and public-private partnerships.
• Experience with site selection, real estate, and regional economic strategy.
• Ability to analyze data and prepare ROI assessments for projects.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Advise leadership on relocation or expansion opportunities and incentives.
• Lead projects across commercial and industrial corridors to support growth.
• Prepare responses to RFIs and coordinate with regional economic partners.
• Conduct ROI analyses and model economic impact of proposals.
• Draft economic incentive proposals and coordinate with City Attorney on compliance.
• Assist with real estate opportunities and navigate zoning and permitting.
• Organize site tours, partner meetings, and market visits for prospective businesses.
• Develop proposals and presentations communicating Denton’s value proposition.
