Job summary

The City of Denton seeks a qualified Historic Preservation Officer to develop and administer policies protecting cultural resources. You will ensure City activities comply with preservation regulations and provide expert guidance to staff, Council, and agencies at regional, state, and national levels.

You will maintain the City’s Certified Local Government status and lead preservation initiatives. Responsibilities include coordinating preservation reviews, advising on landmark designations, and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Historic Preservation and Planning required.
Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or ability to obtain within 12 months.
Strong communication and policy analysis skills required.

Responsibilities

Develops and administers city policies for protection of cultural resources.
Ensures compliance with historic preservation regulations across city activities.
Provides guidance to staff, council and agencies at multiple levels on preservation matters.
Maintains CLG standing and supports local, state, and regional preservation efforts.
Reviews planning applications for compliance with preservation guidelines and prepares staff reports.
