Job summary

The Village of Mundelein invites applications for an Economic Development Specialist/Planner in the Community Development Department. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in urban planning, urban and regional studies, business, public administration, or related field.
• CEcD designation by IEDC preferred or ability to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Implement economic development strategies focusing on business attraction, expansion, and retention.
• Review development proposals, zoning applications, site plans for consistency with plans.
• Prepare reports, maps, and presentations for boards and committees.
• Coordinate incentives such as TIF, façade programs, tax rebates, or grants.
• Collaborate with staff across departments, developers, brokers, and community stakeholders.
• Maintain inventory of available properties and promote Mundelein as a business-friendly community.
• Represent the Village at regional economic development events and organizations.
• Support long-range planning, corridor plans, housing studies, and land-use analyses.
