Job summary

The City of O’Fallon, Illinois, is seeking a seasoned Community Development Director to oversee planning, zoning and development initiatives and to support economic vitality. This executive role reports to the City Administrator, leads the Community Development Department, guides staff, and collaborates with City Council, developers and community groups to advance policy and projects.

A Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field, plus several years of management experience and an AICP

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field; Master’s preferred.
• At least several years of progressively responsible managerial experience.
• AICP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise Community Development Department to meet goals.
• Coordinate planning, building, zoning, and development activities with staff and Council.
• Provide professional recommendations and reviews to Planning Commission and City Council.
• Lead economic development projects and coordinate external consultants as needed.
• Represent the City at meetings, prepare reports, and ensure policy compliance.
