Job summary

The University of Georgia, in Athens, seeks a Director of Economic Development to advance Georgia's economic prosperity by connecting external needs with UGA's expertise and resources. Housed in the CVIOG, the director will convene partners across government, industry, and academia and report to the CVIOG Director.

The role emphasizes building strategic partnerships, documenting outcomes, and expanding UGA's engagement with statewide economic development initiatives.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a master's degree in economic development, business, public administration, public policy, planning, community development, higher education, economics, or a related field.
• A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in economic development, community development, business and industry engagement, higher education, public administration, or a related field.
• Six to eight years of relevant professional experience, with demonstrated knowledge of economic development and experience working with state, regional, or local partners.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison between external partners and the University, helping partners navigate UGA and informing university leaders of needs and opportunities.
• Identify relevant UGA expertise and resources, convene interdisciplinary teams when needed, and help develop partnerships and new approaches.
• Document outcomes, contribute to scholarship and professional activities, and strengthen UGA's role as an engaged partner inGeorgia's economic development.
