Job summary

The University of Georgia seeks a Director of Economic Development to connect state needs with UGA’s expertise across the Carl Vinson Institute of Government. The role serves as a university-wide convener, building relationships with government, business, and nonprofit partners to advance Georgia’s economic development agenda.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in economic development, business, public administration, public policy, planning, or related field.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in economic development or related areas.
• 6–8 years of experience with demonstrated knowledge of economic development and partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Represent UGA with state, regional, and local economic development partners and broaden collaborations.
• Document activities, outcomes and impact; contribute to scholarship and professional activity.
• Engage with external partners to connect needs with university resources and programs.
• Maintain awareness of development trends and connect teaching, research and public service to needs.
• Strengthen existing programs by linking university expertise with industry and communities.
• Develop partnerships, pilots, and initiatives addressing external needs.
