Job summary

City of Monroe (NC) is seeking a professional to support the Economic Development Director and independently administer assigned economic development programs, projects, and departmental initiatives.

Responsibilities include evaluating opportunities, coordinating activities with City departments, businesses, and partners, and developing recommendations with supporting analysis and documentation. This role requires discretion and independent judgment.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of economic development, business principles, and local government operations.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reports, summaries, and presentations.
• Strong data organization and reporting skills with business information systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, programmatic, and administrative support to the Economic Development Director.
• Evaluate opportunities and priorities and develop background information, alternatives, and recommendations.
• Coordinate cross-departmental and external partner activities to advance projects.
• Develop dashboards, reports, and grant tracking information for decision making.
• Represent the department in meetings with businesses, developers, and agencies.
• Administer incentives, grants, and compliance programs as assigned.
• Prepare agendas, materials, and minutes for meetings and ensure follow-ups.
