Job summary

Ergon Inc. Energy & Specialty Solutions (ESS) division is seeking a Director of Engineering to drive strategic leadership for engineering and major capital project execution.

The role oversees activities from concept through commissioning, balancing safety, reliability, operability, cost, and schedule to deliver long-term business value. The Director will develop organizational capability, oversee teams of engineers and designers, and ensure alignment with Ergon's values of Respectful

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 10+ years of progressive engineering and/or capital project experience in refining, petrochemical, chemical processing, energy, manufacturing, or similar.
• 5+ years leading professional engineering, design, or other technical resources.
• Experience supporting or executing complex capital projects involving multiple engineering disciplines.
• Experience managing engineering scope, schedule, cost, quality, constructability, and commissioning requirements.
• Experience managing or providing technical oversight of engineering consultants, contractors, or external resources.
• Experience presenting technical recommendations and project risks to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering activities for major capital projects from concept through closeout.
• Establish engineering standards for quality, design practices, constructability, reliability, and disciplined problem solving.
• Provide technical direction for decisions affecting capital projects and assets.
• Develop engineering managers, supervisors, engineers, designers, and resources; build accountability and succession.
• Allocate resources across the portfolio based on business and project needs.
• Collaborate with Project Management, Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Environmental, Procurement, Finance and leadership to deliver safe, cost-effective solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, standards, tools, and knowledge sharing.
