City of Pilot Point seeks a seasoned Community Services Director to lead planning, zoning, building inspections, code compliance, and permitting. You will align departmental goals with sustainable growth and long-range planning while advising the City Manager and Council on development matters.

Ideal candidates bring a Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years in planning, building, or code compliance, plus 3+ years in supervision, with strong leadership, budget oversight, and community engagement skills.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field (required)
• Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in planning, building, permitting, or code compliance
• At least three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity

Mansioni

• Provide strategic leadership and management over departmental divisions including planning and zoning, building inspections, code compliance, and permitting.
• Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures to ensure effective delivery of services in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
• Lead and implement strategic initiatives aimed at modernizing departmental operations, enhancing interdepartmental coordination, promoting sustainable growth, and improving the overall quality of life for residents.
• Support the City’s long‑term vision by aligning departmental goals with strategic plans, including housing, transportation, infrastructure, and economic development efforts.
• Oversee the review and processing of planning and zoning applications, building permits, and development proposals.
• Ensure efficient and professional inspection services for building construction and code compliance enforcement.
• Collaborate with other City departments, developers, residents, and external agencies to support responsible community growth.
• Lead long‑range and current planning initiatives, including updates to zoning ordinances, comprehensive plans, and building codes.
• Prepare and manage the department’s annual budget; oversee grants, contracts, and capital projects as needed.
• Advise the City Manager, Planning Commission, and City Council on planning and development matters; attend and present at public meetings.
• Manage staff recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and development plans.
• Promote strong customer service and problem‑solving approaches across all divisions.
• Respond to community concerns related to code violations, permit processing, or planning decisions.
