Job summary

The City of Allen is seeking a Director of Community Development to oversee daily operations and projects within the Community Development Department, manage budgets, supervise staff, and coordinate long-range studies and outreach.

Required is a Master’s degree with 5 years of professional planning and community development leadership; a Texas driver’s license is required and AICP certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree with five+ years of planning/community development leadership experience.
• Progressive management/administration experience in a supervisory role.
• Valid Texas driver's license; AICP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees department activities, providing leadership to managers and supervising staff.
• Assists or leads coordination of development projects and zoning cases.
• Represents the department to City Council, boards and outside agencies.
• Develops, administers and monitors the department budget and expenditures.
• Presents reports and analyzes future planning needs and goals.
• Ensures compliance with City, State and Federal laws related to zoning and planning.
