Job summary

Tenneco Inc. is seeking a Commodity Buyer for Direct Materials to source and manage assigned commodities supporting the Powertrain business.

You will develop commodity strategies, negotiate with suppliers, and drive cost-reduction while coordinating with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Finance to meet launches and continuity of supply. The ideal candidate will have direct-material purchasing experience, strong analytical and negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple supplier

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
• Three+ years in purchasing, strategic sourcing, or supply-chain roles.
• Experience with direct-material sourcing in automotive/high-volume manufacturing preferred.
• Strong analytical, financial, and negotiation capabilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for Powertrain and exhaust commodities.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities through negotiation and competitive sourcing.
• Maintain savings forecasts, project timing, and documentation.
• Monitor markets, tariffs, and cost drivers affecting materials.
• Lead RFQ/RFI activities and evaluate quotations for competitiveness.
• Support supplier reviews, risk management, and supplier development initiatives.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Program Management on launches and costs.
