Job summary

The City of Sarasota Development Services Department is seeking a seasoned urban planning professional to perform advanced development review activities. The role focuses on growth, orderly development, and compliance with the Comprehensive Plan and related statutes.

Key duties include GIS-based map preparation, data editing, and statistical analyses, plus preparing reports and presenting findings to the Planning Board and City Commission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree with specialization in Urban Planning or a closely related field is required/strongly preferred.
• Three (3) years of professional urban planning experience; two (2) in a recognized planning agency.
• Master Degree in Urban Planning or closely related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares maps, edits data, and performs GIS analyses.
• Develops and supervises statistical analyses and planning studies.
• Confers with governmental officials and the public.
• Makes presentations to Planning Board and City Commission.
