Job summary

The GLBT Historical Society in San Francisco seeks a Director of Development and Communications to lead fundraising, donor relations, and strategic communications. You will supervise the fundraising and marketing teams and collaborate with the Executive Director to advance a capital campaign and growth plan.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in nonprofit fundraising, strong writing skills, and a track record of meeting revenue targets.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of fundraising experience in nonprofit sector; director-level preferred.
• At least 3 years of staff supervision experience.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing fundraising strategies and meeting revenue targets.
• Excellent writing and communications skills for diverse audiences.
• Experience managing donor relations and stewardship programs.
• Experience with fundraising software; Salesforce preferred.
• Strong leadership, supervision, and team-building skills.
• Experience working with LGBTQ+ communities and advancing equity in fundraising practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to achieve revenue goals.
• Cultivate donor relationships with individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies; oversee grants, events, and campaigns.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy across channels.
• Lead and manage the fundraising and communications team and budget; support capital campaign planning.
