Job summary

San José State University is seeking the Associate Director of Development for University Advancement to manage a prospect/donor portfolio and meet annual fundraising goals. The role requires developing and executing cultivation strategies, soliciting gifts, and stewarding donors with collaboration across colleges and university units.

You will prepare proposals, track engagement, participate in strategy meetings, and work with Annual Giving, Planned Giving, and Corporate & Foundation Relations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of higher education, alumni engagement, development, sales or not-for-profit experience.

Responsibilities

• Actively manage a prospective donor/donor portfolio with annual goals for personal visits and fundraising outcomes.
• Assist in developing and executing strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospective donors—initiate contact and move toward solicitation and closure.
• Present and regularly review top prospect strategies to supervisor and team members.
• Coordinate with Prospect Research to expand and align a prospect pipeline with priorities.
• Collaborate with leadership of colleges and units and with university administrators.
• Focus on securing funding for designated priorities including academic programs, endowed chairs, scholarships and facilities.
